Our Little Garden

This is our first year gardening. We've had pots of herbs other years, but this is the first time we've actually really tried to grow food . . . it has been such a great experience so far! I took a gardening class from Lisa Bramblet one afternoon; she suggested a book called Square Foot Gardening for first-timers. We got the book, read it, Dan started building, Zach and I planted, and watered. Here is the result.

Each square foot has a different plant. We are growing all kinds of veggies: lettuce, carrots, onions, strawberries (although the birds are eating them all), herbs, squash, watermelon, etc. and some flowers. It's become a family project and we all work on it in different ways. Right now, it's mainly watering and keeping an eye on all the baby veggies. Can't wait to eat it all!

Our baby squash . . . growing away!

I can't wait to come over for a summer salad!!! YUMMY! Keep those birds away from the Strawberries and stop feeling sorry for them. They need to grow their own food!
